Russian traditional food is diverse and hearty, often featuring ingredients like beets, cabbage, potatoes, and various meats. Some of the most iconic dishes include:

  • Pelmeni: Small dumplings filled with minced meat, considered a national dish of Russia.
  • Borscht: A famous red beetroot soup, usually served with sour cream.
  • Shchi: A traditional cabbage soup that has been a staple for centuries.
  • Blini: Thin pancakes or crepes often served with jam, honey, or caviar.
  • Beef Stroganoff: Sliced beef in a creamy sauce, a world-famous Russian recipe.
  • Olivier Salad: A festive potato salad commonly prepared for holidays.

I find Russian cuisine very comforting because it is designed to be filling and warming, which is perfect for cold weather. I particularly enjoy pelmeni because they are simple yet delicious. My favourite day of the week is Saturday. I like it because it is a day of complete freedom where I can relax without worrying about work or studies the next morning. The day of the week I don't like is Monday. It usually feels quite heavy as it marks the transition from the weekend back to a busy routine. I do have a lucky day, which is Friday. It always seems to bring good news and a sense of excitement for the upcoming weekend.
